Bases for Calculation
The ZAR5 planetary gearing calculation program calculates the geometry and strength of sun, planet and ring gear (spur or helical, involute teeth) according to ISO 6336, ISO 1328, DIN 3960, 3961, 3967 and 3990. ZAR5 calculates the tooth contact for gear pair sun-planet and planet-ring gear.Pre-Dimension
At Pre-Dimensioning, ZAR5 creates a planet gear, after you entered input/output speeed and power .
Dimensions
Pressure angle, helix angle, normal module or diametral pitch, number of teeth, face width, addendum modification coefficients, center distance, addendum reduction may be edited and optimized at dimensions dialogue window.
Special Profiles
To enable users to optimize gear trains with extra-depth gearing, the program allows the tool dimensions of normal and protuberance profiles to be defined freely, with and without tip edge breakage.
Printout
ZAR5 calculates all gear data, tool dimensions, tooth thickness, flank clearance, backlash, span width, dimension over/between pins and balls, tolerances and permissible errors according to ISO 1328 or DIN 3961.
Strength calculation
The load-bearing capacity with respect to tooth root fatigue fracture and pitting can be calculated for gear pairs sun-planet and planet-ring gear in conformance with either ISO 6336 or DIN 3990 Parts 1 to 3 or DIN 3990 Part 41 (Vehicle transmission). A diagram displays safety factors and life expectation as function of torque.
Kutzbach Chart
The Kutzbach chart displays the speed vectors and relative speed.
Wolf Chart
The gear chart to Wolf shows the torque distribution to the 3 shafts (2 difference shafts and 1 sum shaft), as well as the relative transmission coefficients.
Animation
An animation simulates the cinematics of the planetary gear on screen. Another animation shows the tooth contact sun-planet and planet-ring gear.
Manufacturing drawing
You can generate a drawing with tables of all production data for sun, planet and ring gear. Drawings may be exported as DXF or IGES files, or be printed on every Windows printer.
Production sheet
Another production sheet contains manufacturing data and dimension in pre-machined and finished condition.
Quick View
Quick View shows tables with most essential data of the planetary gearing.
Roller Bearing Calculation
If planet wheels are to be mounted with roller bearings, ZAR5 calculates life expectation of groove ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, needle bushes, needle bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings and self-aligning roller bearings by means of the database files delivered with the software.
Multistage Planetary Gear
Enter transmission ratio and number of stages for pre-dimensioning of a multi stage planetary gear.
CAD Interface
DXF and IGES interfaces allow ZAR5 to be linked to CAD and DTP systems. ZAR5 generates drawings of the front and side elevation of the gears calculated, plus tables containing the gear data and dimensions.
The tooth shape with involutes and envelopes can be calculated precisely and plotted out in CAD. A single tooth, the tooth space, the complete gear, gear-generating tool, planetary gear train and a sectional view of the tooth action can be displayed on the screen or output as a CAD drawing.
Database for materials and tooth profiles
ZAR5 contains databases with material data and tool profiles, that may be extended and modified by the user.
